About us
LUCAfromITALY is made up of a team of friendly, professional guides and drivers. On our tours we show visitors around the places where we grew up, telling stories of the areas and cultures with which we are familiar and sharing our knowledge of those special spots. We aim also to introduce you, when possible, to some “real” local life. Company founder Luca Martinelli was born and raised in the region of Lake Como. His passion and curiosity for travel and culture brought him to study and work in the tourism field in the United States as well. Luca himself is a licensed driver and guide and has been hosting excursions in his region since 2014. Tours are limited to small groups (maximum about sixteen), and we do our best to provide unhurried, off-the-beaten-path, authentic excursions. Our slogan is “not a guide but your friend!” Benvenuti in Italia!

Absolutely amazing experience with an amazing tour guide!
I'm sitting on the train on the way back from the most amazing day, I couldn't wait to write a review! Me and my partner did the scenic train ride, and we were lucky enough to be the only ones, so we had an amazing individualised trip. Luca couldn't have been more lovely, approachable, accommodating and knowledgeable. He ensured we had the best day, recommended the best restaurants, and knew all the local knowledge/history, such an interesting man. The scenic train ride was amazing, brilliant views. We also got to stop at a winery and Luca convinced them to show us the cellar, and we sampled some beautiful wine. Was the highlight of our trip, would do it all again tomorrow if we could! Spectacular scenery and local flavors!
Our trip with Luca to Lake Como and aboard the Bernina Express was a highlight of our trip to Italy. Luca is warm, funny, knowledgeable and an excellent guide! He arranged for us to do a cheese tasting at a charming dairy in Chiuro, which was one of our favorite stops. When a winter storm closed the road our bus was supposed to take, Luca quickly adjusted plans to make sure we enjoyed plenty of time aboard the Bernina Express and in local towns. Lake Como is beautiful and the scenery aboard the Bernina Express is spectacular. The coach we were on had windows that opened to allow us to take amazing photos. We highly recommend Luca and his tours!

Wonderful Autumn and Winter visits on the Bernia Express
This was my second time with Luca on the Bernia Express. I went once with my mother in October 2022 (with only the 2 of us) and a second time with a friend in December 2023 (with a total of 14 people). Both times were equally amazing. I was able to see both the beautiful autumn foliage and a winter wonderland. Luca is an informative and entertaining guide. The day is long, but it is wonderfully organized with stops along the way which included a wine & cheese stop on one of my trips and a stop a local store to shop for Italian foods on another trip. There is also time for quick lunch and a quick stroll around St Moritz. Luca does great with both small and large groups. I highly recommend this tour if you want to ride the Bernia Express without the hassle of planning everything yourself.

A must see breathtaking experience!!
The trip was amazing! Right from the start, Luca will ensure that you do not get lost from the group. The short visit to lake como was nice and sweet. The trip isn’t that tiring and I think that anyone of any age can enjoy it. The bernina express train was majestic and fun! It was a bit sad that we were not able to see st.moritz but luca made sure to have alternative destinations instead. He also gives from time to time information about the places we pass through. I hope next time I’d be able to bring more of my friends and family to go again in this trip. Thank you!

Unforgettable Experience
This tour exceeded our expectations and was one of the highlights of our stay at Milan. It was amazing experience for us - such beautiful views ! Luca, our guide, is so knowledgeable and shared so much information with us throughout the tour. He is so friendly and thoughtful. He even checked if we arrived safely at Milano Centrale at the end of the tour. He was responsive to all the correspondences we sent to him. We highly recommend this tour ! Thank you Luca !

Bernina scenic train ride
The tour was well organized from the meeting place to our train ride to meet our excellent guide LUCA..He is very knowledgeable, friendly ,game and he does not rush us. taking picture does not do justice to the awesome scenery. and this is my second time ! Amazing trip on the Bernina express
The trip was amazing and our tour guide Alice was wonderful. Shares so much good information and allowed for stops for lunch and rest break. Highly Exxon’s this tour!
